Vesna Packaging Printing Plant requirements for submitted original layouts and materials
All materials should be submitted on CD / DVD-R / RW discs, and remain at the plant as documentary confirmation of the order.
The files should meet following requirements, and should not require improvements and alterations.
- 1. Files should be submitted in the format of ****. ai (Adobe Illustrator versions up to and including CS2) (hereinafter referred to as VP (vector part)). The raster part should be placed into a publication connectedly (LINK option should be enabled when placing the raster part of the file (PLACE) (hereinafter referred to as RF (rater part)). It is not allowed to profiles (PROFILE) in the submitted files. The layout files should be accompanied by printed out hard copies of the final version, signed by the Customer with the seal of the enterprise. Color print outs are not considered as samples of color rendering, and are intended to control possible losses and drop-outs of image elements. Samples of color rendering should be stipulated separately. The following elements should be provided with b /w print-outsing (separately for each element):
- Relief stamping (in the case of multi-level embossing the clich? shape should be specified additionally);
- Foil stamping;
- Blind stamping;
- Each additional ink when printing CMYK + SPOT1 + SPOT2 +.....;
- Spot varnishing (printed elements - varnished surface), it should be noted that the hybrid varnishing printing elements will have a matte surface with "orange peel" effect and the non-varnished elements will be glossy;
- Drawing of die-cut design with an indication of cutting elements, creasing, perforating, grooving of crashing knives etc. and dimensions.
- The vector part:
- All fonts must be converted to curves.
- OWERPRINT FILL option must be enabled on the elements that lie "opaque" to the underlying objects. Option OWERPRINT STROKE should be enabled on the elements with contouring where "manual" trapping is required.
- When printing with the additional (or only) SPOT-inks it is necessary that the elements were painted in advance and given to the selected tab SWATCHES names corresponding to the number of additional colors. Note that the list does not include the names of a number of different indices, for instance PANTONE 280 CV and PANTONE 280 CVC. All unused SPOT inks from SPOT-SWATCHES should be removed. When you send a print series of papers (eg 10 species of box), it is necessary that the names of colors and options in the SWATCH OPTIONS for different files match. Specific requirements for naming white when printed on metallic or plastic:
- Swatch Name: white;
- Color Type: Spot Color;
- Color Mode: CMYK, C-0, M-100, Y-100, K-0.
- All elements (except SPOT-elements) should be colored in CMYK-palette.
- All special effects: transparency, shadows, etc. be converted to raster objects and merged with the underlying background in a raster file.
- In the menu Edit / Preferences / General the options of Transform Pattern Tiles and Scale Strokes & Effects should be enabled.
- All individual layers (Layers) which are clearly geometrically linked to each other should contain the following elements (in order from bottom to top):
- Common raster background (if any);
- Vector elements;
- Vector elements of white;
- All kinds of stamping (each in its own layer);
- Varnishing plane;
- Cutting design;
- Textual information.
- RP should be submitted as a rater file with 300dpi resolution in following versions:
- TIFF CMYK;
- Photoshop-EPS (not DCS) CMYK. When saving the EPS file the following options should be enabled: PREVIEW: TIFF (8 BITS / PIXEL), ENCODING: ASCII. The remaining options should be disabled. If the raster part is placed with the "clipping paths" (CLIPPING PATH), it must be selected in the section PATHs with 1 pixel of squaring;
- If the printed edition with additional SPOT-inks need to save a bitmap in the form of a single-layer PSD-file CMYK additional SPOT-channels (through the New Spot Channel), which clearly correspond to the name and Color Mode in laying SWATCHES tab Adobe Illustrator.
- If the job is to be cut out, the interaction of the Customer and the Contractor shall be as follows:
- The customer gives the TOR for the product (design, geometry, gluing, etc.);
- Artist develops a design and transmits customer file with the drawing die cutting;
- The Customer makes the original layout of the job in accordance with and with reference to the provided die cutting design.
When Customer sends the layout file to Contractor, the cutting drawing should remain as a separate layer in VP.
If the Customer provides their construction of the die-cutting, the Customer bears full responsibility for possible problems with the box construction: bad assembling, deformation of assembled products, etc.
-
If the product is to be varnished, the varnishing plane should be presented as a separate layer in VP, with all the necessary non-varnished spots.
Printing on the outside (or inside, if there are internal windows) "for trimming" of cutting lines should go to 3mm as the paint and varnish on. Denotative elements (such as text, logo, etc.) should be placed at 3 mm distance from the cutting and creasing lines. It is HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE to make a sharp transition of the background on the lines of scoring (because the cross-cutting process "printing, die cutting, gluing" has non-zero tolerances for accuracy, depending on cardboard quality).
If the substrate is to be embossed, the RP of the layout should contain a separate layer (layers- if, for example, stamping is to be done with two types of foil) with all elements subject to stamping. Elements of the same layer should be painted with ONLY ONE COLOR (Black - 100%), should not have the contouring (Stroke - 0mm). Under the elements of foil stamping the "reversing" of the printed image is not done. If the elements of foil stamping on the printed image are contoured with thin lines different in color from the background - the layout is to be approved separately. It should be noted that in case of deployment of elements of stamping closer than 10 mm to the outer borders of the image, then deployment of the cut-out should be approved additionally (in order to avoid the geometric intersection of the plates on the mounting plate of a cliche). It is undesirable to deploy the elements of foil stamping on the scoring lines (to avoid possible peeling of foil).
For foil stamping and blind embossing: the minimum thickness of the printed element 0,3 mm, the minimum thickness of the spacing element should be 0,5 mm. Linear precision of register is 0,2 mm. For embossing: minimum thickness of the printed element is the double thickness of cardboard, of the spacing element should be 0,1 mm. Linear precision register is 0,5 mm. At lower values of minimum thickness of printed and spacing elements the quality of printing is not guaranteed, the plant is not responsible for checking the image for the size limits of printing elements.
Failure to observe these requirements or exposure of hidden deviations the printing or post printing processing) of variation, entitles the plant for suspension of the production process. The Customer shall bear all additional expenses for adjustments and modifications.
